Ayazi-Hashjin, Sherry. Rap and Hip Hop: The Voice of a Generation. New York: Rosen Pub. Group, 1999. Print. In this short book, Sherry Ayazi-Hashjin talks about the heritage, musical roots of hip hop. It also encompasses quotes from different rappers that depict the reality of rap, they agree that rap is only here because we have created it just like how we bring good and bad things in our lives, and it all depends on the way you think. But it’s better to embrace the positive side of rap over its negativity because even through its negativeness there’s a positive message behind it, well for most parts.

Alan Light. The Vibe History of Hip Hop. Three Rivers Press, 201 East 50th Street, New York, New York 10022. This book talks about how hip hop is the only genre out there that allows us to talk about almost anything. In somewhat allows us to create poetry and sample it musically through beats of music. However after years of struggling to attain international attention, hip hop had now become a dominant force in contemporary American youth culture. It has brought so many positive influence across the country and around the globe from the way songs are recorded and produce, and how fashion clothes are designed and marketed, and also how it has strongly help bring people together to help get rid of the attitude towards race.
